Butterfly Kissgate
This gate was made as an anniversary present for my
wife, Joy. It is set into the entryway to her back garden
(where my workshop/office/studio is located). From a
distance this five ft high gate appears to be a giant
butterfly. As you approach, it becomes evident it is
two faces kissing. The little butterfly on the top of
the latch is made from scrap bolts and sheet metal with
long wing tails made from spoon handles. The circles
around the butterfly are lamp shade rings and the whole
is ornamented with old bike gears. Sandblasted and powder
coat painted gold. I used very top of the line hinges
from Antec Corp to mount the gate.
